Glycine Throughout Time
1914
Founded in 1914 by Eugène Meylan in Biel/Bienne, Glycine built a reputation for fine Swiss craftsmanship, evolving from elegant women’s watches to becoming a favorite among the British and American jet-set. The brand’s innovation peaked with the patented 1931 EMSA module, which transformed hand-wound watches into automatic timepieces and redefined everyday timekeeping.

Glycine Throughout Time
1953
In 1953, Glycine introduced the original Airman watch at the request of British pilot Chat Brown, becoming the first to feature multiple time zones. Its legacy grew further when the Airman was worn by NASA astronaut Pete Conrad during the Gemini 5 mission in 1965, traveling to space and back.

Glycine Throughout Time
1965
Glycine reached space in 1965 when astronaut Pete Conrad wore his Airman during the Gemini 5 mission, where he and Gordon Cooper set a new endurance record. Conrad returned with the watch still strapped to his suit, proving its durability and ability to withstand extreme conditions.

Glycine Throughout Time
1967
Glycine introduced its now-signature crown logo in 1965, with most watches featuring it by 1967. That same year, the brand launched the Combat collection for military and sports use, marking a new era with durable design and advanced functionality.

Glycine Throughout Time
Present
While the Airman marked a major milestone, Glycine has consistently upheld a legacy of innovation and craftsmanship since its founding over a century ago. Today, the brand continues to build on Meylan’s vision, expanding its collection with distinctive, reliable timepieces that carry its tradition into the future.
